unit 11 : Teaching Listening (부교재 7/ 16)


 

" ... there's a big connection between speaking and listening when we're speaking we're usually responding to something we just heard so our listening skills need to be top-notch in order to be able to speak well we also have to have a purpose for listening what are we looking for specific information a general idea what we're listening for affects how we listen when you're teaching listening you also really want to make sure to start simple ... "

1. Purpose 목적

Affects how we listen/ Specific focus

Start simple - fun story
How many times? once, twice...( 2-3times가 일반적)
처음에는 적지말고 듣기만 하는 활동!
Individual -> group/ 들은 것 그룹별로 나누기
Created vs Authentic -mixed pronunciation,  listneningn tasks
Reduce anxiety - 처음부터 이해하지 못해도 괜찮다.




2. 4 differents purpose

<1> Gist - global understanding/ general idea (fun! 티비, 영화, 음악)
<2> 특정한 정보 
<3> 상황에 어떤 내용이 있는지, 사람들이 무슨 대화를 나누는지, 
<4> Provide information (learn general content) - 정보


3. Ads! 

- What is the product/store?
- How much money? sail
- Why buy it?
- Then, create their own!
- Random objects, realia.


​4. Preparing of listnening taks

1) Questions
- 무엇이 목적인가? 
- 어떤 기술을 연습해야 하나? 
- 단계에 적절한가? - 약간 어렵게
- 어떤 단어가 중요한가?
- 흥미로운 주제인가?

2)  Context
- include.. but... 
- Don't overdo - 학생들이 듣기를 통해 스스로 발견하도록 할 것

- Predict w. Key Vocabulary
- Focus the students 
- first time get an idea - students = just 적지말고 듣기만!
- Time - 처음 들을 때 시간을 좀 줄것 너무 많이 말고
- 두번째 들을 때 - 어려워하면 한번 더 들려줄 것
- pair -> whole class 먼저 짝지어주고 파트너와 들은 것을 이야기 나눠보고 전체 교실로 나눠가서 들은 단어들을 체크해 볼 것)
- Further exploration- Detailed comprehension/ Writtne work


6. 좋은 듣기 활동

- 뉴스 라디오 듣기/ 빅뉴스 스토리, 교통상황, 날씨 - 2분정도의 짧은 뉴스들/ 초급자에게도 좋은 활동/ 
- prepare a worksheet
- Find a good new broadcast
- Play only 2-5 minutes
- Specific information: Weather, traffic, news story, etc.
- Do regularly! 


7. Dictations - 아주 좋은 듣기 활동!

- Create longer dictations yourself - control voca, grammar, length, topic.
- Start small.

- General listnening 
- 듣기 자료: Textbooks, YouTube, movie clips 
- Movie, Tv show it's not authentic
- Authentic vs. Created.


8. Songs 노래 활용



- Pronunciation? 곡을 고를 때 학생들이 이해할만한 것을 골라야 한다.
- Language? - 이름, 장소, 언어, 문화  등 혼란스러운 부분이 없는지 고려
- Fun? 흥미로운 노래를 고를 것
ex) "If I had $ 1,0000,000" / "Happy"/ "The beatles"/ "Yesderday" (past tnes)

​Song activities - Predicton/ Cloze/ Dictation/ Sing along (younger kids!)Role- play/ Write the song as a story/ Write the song as a story/ Challenge students to find similarly- themed songs. - gramma point/ similar themed.


9. TYPES OF ACTIVITIES

Corret order
- True/False 
- Note- taking (advanced) - dictation. ted -talks
- Checklists
- Re-create * - writing/ poster/ skit : 이야기를 듣고 서로 다른 방법으로 나누는 것/ 학생이 선택하여 스몰 그룹을 나눠 진행 / more engaged 
- Be very clear with students about how much writing they need to do.

- Written work, observation, final products





11. Authentic listening


- graphic organizers ( 차트, 워크시트 등)
- Daily News axtivity/ Radio online/ 라디오 퀴즈
- Tv, Movie, Nature, History, Mix it up (다양한 과제를 줄것)
