Beatrice (Bea) Hersh-Tudor is a Basic English instructor at Wenatchee Valley College. She has her Master’s Degree in Teaching English as a Second Language (MA/TESL) from Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington. Bea has taught English in France, where she was studying French for her Bachelor’s degree in French Language and Literature from SUNY Plattsburgh. She also taught English classes for the community in Spokane, Washington as a volunteer. She spent two years serving in AmeriCorps, a national service organization in the United States. While in AmeriCorps, she helped adults learn English and get their high school diplomas.
Her teaching experience includes working with 3rd graders, immigrant and refugee adults, study abroad students, and community members. Bea has presented student engagement topics at multiple conventions. She supports peer teaching and learning, the use of games in the classroom, and the role of the teacher as a guide for the students. She strives to make learning fun and interactive. Bea’s hobbies include sewing, crochet, reading, and singing. She especially looks forward to time spent swimming or kayaking. She hopes to one day travel and immerse herself in the diverse cultures around the world. For now, though, she enjoys helping the people of Wenatchee reach their goals.
